History
of Parent Company (WSS)
On
the cutting edge of the women's sports market for years, the unique
and creative company has done a variety of work in the sports industry
including, marketing consulting for major corporations, producing
nationwide events and career related services and programs.
Launched
in July of 1995, the Women’Sports Wire (WSW) was
the initial product of WSS. Serving as a national clearinghouse
for women’s sports business news and information. The first
of its kind, the Wire quickly established itself as the #1 information
resource for women’s sports business news. In 1997, the clearinghouse
launched its second publication, the Women’Sports
Job Wire.
In
September of 2000, WSS launched its online sports career center,
WomenSportsJobs.com, to support women in sports
related careers. In 2002, the company expanded its career development
and recruiting services to specialize in meeting the needs of women,
minorities and professional athletes.
In 2000 and
2001, WSS produced the Girls Sports X-travaganza & Women's
Health & Fitness Expo, the largest event in the country
for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Over 30
female athletes and Olympians supported the event including
4-time WNBA Champion Cynthia Cooper, 4-time Olympic
swimmer Dara Torres, Olympic Gold Medalist &
World Cup Soccer standouts Julie Foudy & Tisha Venturini,
4 time World Champion Surfer, Layne Beachley, LPGA
Tour Player Kellie Booth and many more!
In 2003, WSS
launched WSS Executive Search to provide job placement
services for women, minoriites and professional athletes. WSS Executive
Search provides executive search services for the sports industry
and other industries, including healthcare, financial services,
retail and more.
